This invention relates to a new and useful tool in the nature of a hack saw especially adapted for the purpose of sawing or cutting iron.
The object of the invention is to provide a hack saw of new and novel construction comprising a means of adjustably holding a pair of haol: saw blades as a means of ten sioning the said blades as is highly desirable in a tool of this class.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a hack saw of comparatively heavy construction which will eliminate the necessity of pressing downward on the saw during the sawing operation.
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view ofmy improved hack saw.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof.
Fig. 3 is a rear elevational view thereof.
Fig. 4 is a front elevational view thereof.
As here embodied my improved hack saw comprised a handle member 10, secured as at 11 to the extended extremity of the tubular member 12. The handle member is oppositely extended from the tubular member 12, and has formed thereon grip elements 13 and 14, for the purpose of providing a suitable handle. The extended extremities of the handle member is secured as'at 15 and 16, intermediately to the front support 17 which is secured. at its center as at 18 to the tubular member 12 and extended at right angles therefrom, and positioned in engagement with the enlarged portion-19 of the said tubular member.
The extension rod 20 is slidably mounted in the enlarged extended portion 21 of the above mentioned tubular member 12. Clips 22 and 23 are pivotally secured as at 24 and 25, respectively, by pins or the like carried in the lug elements 26 and 27 which are made integral with the extended portion 21 of the tubular member 12. Leaf springs 28 and 29 are secured at one extremity thereof, as at 30' and 31 to the extended portion 21 of the tubular member 12, and are extended therefrom and engage the'clips 22 and 23 respectively, as a means of normally holding the free extremities 32 and 33, of the clips 22 and 23 in engagement with any desired one of the notches 34 and 35 formed in the extended rod 20, for the purpose as hereinafter set forth.

The hack saw blades 38 and 39 are of ordinary construction and design and are provi'ded with the usual conventional saw teeth 40 and 41. The clips 42 and43 are secured to the extended extremities of the front support 17 and are provided with extended elements 44 and 45, formed or bent upwardly at approximately right angles to the main portion of the said clips, and are adapted to engage in apertures formed in one of the extremities of the saw blades 38 and 39, respectively.

The above mentioned construction is such as will permit the extension rod to be held in any desired extended position relative tov the front support by means of the clips secured to the extended portion of the tubular member, for the purpose of holding the hack saw blades in position on the clips provided for this purpose. structionis such as will permit the wing nut to be positioned on the extended extremity of the extension and as a means of positioning the levers in engagement with the said wing nut, for the purpose of tensioning the said hack saw blades as is required to provide a suitable cutting medium.
