Abstract

The battery condition is diagnosed by measuring the weight of acid and/or battery voltage, then depending on the battery condition an initial current pulse or constant voltage charging step is initiated, followed by a succession of alternating current pulse/constant voltage charging steps. Throughout the charging process the battery (8) is diagnosed and the duration of the constant voltage charging period is altered as a consequence. The current supplied to the battery is measured at regular intervals and controlled depending on the battery condition. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for the reconditioning and charging equipment.
