Abstract

1,045,908. Centrifugal strainer. KALLE A.G. Sept. 2, 1964 [Sept. 3, 1963], No.35991/64. Heading B1D. Material being centrifugally dried is fed from right to left along the inside of cylindrical sieve drum 1a, by relative rotation of the drum and cylindrical feed screw 2. Screw 2 is a hollow cylinder with an external sheet metal worm 2a, the worm thread 2a being interrupted to provide at least one annular space 3 to which wash liquid is supplied through apertures 4 to wash the material passing axially through space 3. The drum and screw 2 both rotate, but at different speeds, on a horizontal axis. Material is delivered through hollow spindle 5 and is deflected by baffle 8 through openings 6 to the right hand end of the drum Wash liquid enters at 7 and is deflected by baffle 8a through apertures 4 in screw 2. The dwell time of material in space 3 may be up to a minute.
