Abstract

1,187,508. Caps for containers. AMERICAN FLANGE & MFG. CO. Inc. 7 July, 1967 [15 Aug., 1966], No. 31474/67. Heading B8T. A container capsule of metal has weakened tearing lines (5), Fig. 1 (not shown), which extend across its top 1 and skirt 2 to form part of a tear strip 3 having its lower end formed as a tearing ear 1O and including a neck part 11 and a ring for receiving a finger of the person opening the container. The edges of the ring are turned under as shown in Fig. 4, the folded portion 14 merging into the edge 11a of the neck part 11. Notches 7 aid in starting the tearing action.
