Description
Claims (27)
- 스태거캐스팅(staggercasting)을 위한 방법으로서,컨텐츠를 표현하는 신호들의 세트를 인코딩하는 단계 - 상기 세트는 디코딩되어 대응하는 디코딩된 신호들의 세트를 생성할 수 있고, 각각의 디코딩된 신호는 다른 인코딩된 신호들에 대응하는 디코딩된 신호들의 품질들과 상이한 품질을 가짐 - ;시간적으로 스태거(staggered)된 인코딩된 신호들의 세트를 포함하는 복합 신호(composite signal)를 생성하는 단계;상기 복합 신호로부터 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트를 추출하는 단계;상기 추출된 인코딩된 신호들의 세트에서 에러들을 검출하는 단계;에러가 없는 이용가능한 추출된 인코딩된 신호들의 서브세트를 생성하기 위해 상기 추출된 인코딩된 신호들의 서브세트를 선택하는 단계; 및컨텐츠 표현 신호(content representative signal)를 선택가능한 원하는 품질로 디코딩하는 단계를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 원하는 품질의 컨텐츠 표현 신호가 이용가능하지 않으면, 상기 이용가능한 추출된 인코딩된 신호들의 서브세트로부터 선택가능한 원하는 품질의 컨텐츠 표현 신호를 디코딩하는 단계를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 디코딩 단계는 상기 원하는 품질의 컨텐츠 표현 신호를 자동적으로 선택하는 단계를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 원하는 품질을 자동적으로 선택하는 단계는, 미리 설정된 선택 파라미터들에 응답하여 상기 원하는 품질을 선택하는 단계를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제4항에 있어서, 상기 파라미터들은 사용자 입력에 응답하여 미리 설정되는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 디코딩 단계는 사용자 입력에 응답하여 상기 원하는 품질을 선택하는 단계를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서, 사용자 입력에 응답하여 상기 원하는 품질을 선택하는 단계는, 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트에 관계된 이미지 표현 정보를 표시하는 단계; 및 정보 디스플레이를 표시한 후 사용자 입력을 수신하는 단계를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제7항에 있어서, 상기 컨텐츠 표현 신호는 텔레비젼 프로그램을 나타내고; 상기 복합 신호를 생성하는 단계는 상기 인코딩된 컨텐츠 표현 신호 세트의 각각의 품질을 포함하는 상기 텔레비젼 프로그램에 관계된 정보를 나르는 신호를 더 포함하는 단계를 포함하고, 상기 인코딩된 신호 표현 정보의 이미지를 표시하는 단계는 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트의 품질들 및 상기 텔레비젼 프로그램에 관계된 상기 정보를 목록화(listing)하는 단계를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제8항에 있어서, 상기 텔레비젼 프로그램 정보를 나르는 신호는 PMT(program map table) 및 PSIP-VCT(program and information systems protocol-virtual channel table) 중 어느 하나 또는 양자를 표현하는 데이터를 나르는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 복합 신호를 생성하는 단계는, 가장 낮은 품질의 디코딩된 신호는 지연되지 않고, 대응하는 디코딩된 신호의 품질이 높을수록 지연 기간이 더 길어지게 되도록 다른 인코딩된 신호들이 상기 가장 낮은 품질의 디코딩된 신호에 대응하는 인코딩된 신호에 대해 지연되도록 된, 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트를 생성하는 단계를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 인코딩 단계는 다른 인코딩된 신호들의 인코딩에 대해 로버스트(robust)한 기술을 사용하여 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트 중 적어도 하나를 인코딩하는 단계를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제11항에 있어서, 적어도 하나의 로버스트 인코딩된 신호는 가장 낮은 품질의 디코딩된 신호에 대응하는 인코딩된 신호를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제11항에 있어서, 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트는 채널 인코딩되고, 상기 로버스트 인코딩된 신호들은 비-로버스트(non-robust) 인코딩된 신호들에 사용된 채널 코딩 기술에 대해 로버스트한 채널 코딩 기술을 사용하여 채널 인코딩되는 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 제13항에 있어서, 상기 로버스트 인코딩된 신호들에 대한 채널 코딩은 4-VSB 또는 2-VSB 변조 중 하나이고, 상기 비-로버스트 인코딩된 신호들에 대한 채널 코딩은 8-VSB 변조인 스태거캐스팅 방법.
- 컨텐츠를 표현하는, 시간상으로 스태거된(staggered), 인코딩 신호들의 세트를 포함하는 복합 신호를 수신하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기로서,상기 세트는 디코딩되어 대응하는 디코딩된 신호들의 세트를 생성하고, 각 디코딩된 신호는 다른 인코딩된 신호들에 대응하는 디코딩된 신호들의 품질들과는 상이한 품질을 가지고,상기 수신기는,상기 복합 신호에 응답하여, 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트를 추출하고, 각각의 인코딩된 신호들 내의 에러들을 검출하고, 에러가 없는 이용가능한 추출된 신호들의 서브세트를 생성하는 디멀티플렉서; 및상기 디멀티플렉서에 결합되고, 에러 표현 신호에 응답하여 선택가능한 원하는 품질로 컨텐츠 표현 신호를 재생하는 디코더를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제15항에 있어서, 상기 디코더는 상기 원하는 품질의 컨텐츠 표현 신호가 이용가능하지 않은 경우, 상기 이용가능한 추출된 인코딩된 신호들의 서브세트로부터 선택가능한 원하는 품질로 컨텐츠 표현 신호를 디코딩하는 회로를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제16항에 있어서, 상기 디코더는 상기 원하는 품질로 상기 컨텐츠 표현 신호를 자동적으로 선택하는 회로를 더 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제17항에 있어서, 상기 디코더는 미리 설정된 선택 파라미터들을 저장하고, 또한 상기 선택 파라미터들에 응답하여 상기 원하는 품질로 상기 컨텐츠 표현 신호를 자동적으로 선택하기 위한 회로를 더 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제18항에 있어서, 사용자 입력에 응답하여 선택 파라미터들을 저장하는 회로를 더 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제15항에 있어서, 상기 디코더는 사용자 입력에 응답하여 원하는 것을 선택하는 회로를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제20항에 있어서, 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트에 관계된 이미지 표현 정보를 표시하기 위한 OSD(on-screen-display) 장치를 더 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제21항에 있어서, 상기 컨텐츠 표현 신호는 텔레비젼 프로그램이고, 상기 복합 신호는 상기 인코딩된 컨텐츠 표현 신호 세트의 각각의 품질들을 포함하는 상기 텔레비젼 프로그램에 관계된 정보를 나르는 신호를 더 포함하며,상기 OSD 장치는 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트의 품질들 및 상기 텔레비젼 프로그램에 관계된 상기 정보의 목록(listing)을 표시하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제22항에 있어서, 상기 텔레비젼 프로그램 정보를 나르는 신호는 PMT(program map table) 및 PSIP-VCT(program and information systems protocol-virtual channel table) 중 어느 하나 또는 양자를 표현하는 데이터를 나르는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제15항에 있어서, 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트 중 적어도 하나는, 다른 신호들의 인코딩에 대해 로버스트한 기술을 사용하여 인코딩되고, 상기 디코더는 상기 적어도 하나의 인코딩된 신호에 응답하여 상기 적어도 하나의 인코딩된 신호를 디코딩하기 위한 디코더를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제24항에 있어서, 적어도 하나의 로버스트 인코딩된 신호는 가장 낮은 품질의 디코딩된 신호에 대응하는 인코딩된 신호를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제25항에 있어서, 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트는 채널 코딩되고, 상기 로버스트 인코딩된 신호들은 4-VSB 또는 2-VSB 변조 중 하나를 사용하여 채널 인코딩되고 다른 인코딩된 신호들은 8-VSB 변조를 사용하여 채널 인코딩되며,상기 디코더는 4-VSB 또는 2-VSB 복조 중 하나를 사용하여 상기 로버스트 인코딩된 신호들을 채널 디코딩하고, 8-VSB 복조를 사용하여 다른 인코딩된 신호들을 채널 디코딩하는 복조기를 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
- 제15항에 있어서, 상기 복합 신호는, 가장 낮은 품질의 디코딩된 신호는 지연되지 않고, 대응하는 디코딩된 신호의 품질이 높을수록 지연 기간이 더 길어지게 되도록 다른 인코딩된 신호들이 상기 가장 낮은 품질의 디코딩된 신호에 대응하는 인코딩된 신호에 대해 지연되도록 된, 상기 인코딩된 신호들의 세트를 포함하고,상기 수신기는, 상기 디멀티플렉서와 상기 디코더 사이에 결합되며 상기 추출된 인코딩된 신호들의 세트에 각각 응답하여 상기 추출된 인코딩된 신호들을 시간적으로 재정렬하는 복수의 지연 회로를 더 포함하는 스태거캐스팅 수신기.
