Abstract
Description
이하, 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 상세히 설명하기로 한다.
참고로, 위상 지연 필름은 필름 각 축의 굴절율 값에 있어서 nx, ny, nz가 nx>ny=nz인 일축성 위상 지연 필름으로 이루어지고 nx축이 광축이 되는 A필름, 필름 각 축의 굴절율 값에 있어 nx, ny, nz가 nx=ny>nz인 일축성 위상 지연 필름으로 이루어지고 nx축이 광축이 되는 C필름, 그리고, 필름 각 축의 굴절율 값에 있어 nx, ny, nz가 nx>ny>nz인 이축성 위상 지연 필름을 포함한다. 상기 이축성 위상 지연 필름의 광축은 nz축으로 표현된다.
그리고, 정면 위상 지연 필름은 이축성 위상 지연 필름에서 정면 위상 지연 값, 즉, {(nx-ny)/2-nz}×d의 값을 의미하며, 측면 위상 지연 필름은 이축성 위상 지연 필름에서 측면 위상 지연 값, 즉, {(nx-ny)/2-nz}×d의 값을 의미한다. 여기서, 상기 d는 액정셀의 두께를 나타낸다.
Claims (8)
- 소정의 방향으로 러빙된 기판에 의하여 형성된 액정셀;상기 액정셀 일측에 마련된 상부 위상 지연 필름;상기 상부 위상 지연 필름 일측에 마련된 상부 원형 편광판;상기 액정셀 타측에 상기 상부 위상 지연 필름과 대칭적으로 마련된 하부 위상 지연 필름; 및상기 하부 위상 지연 필름 타측에 상기 상부 원형 편광판과 대칭적으로 마련되며, 상기 상부 원형 편광판의 광축과 직교하는 광축을 가진 하부 원형 편광판;을 포함하며,상기 상하부 위상 지연 필름 각각은 정면 위상 지연 필름 및 측면 위상 지연 필름을 포함하고,상기 상하부 원형 편광판은 상하부 선형 편광판과 상기 액정셀 측으로 상기 상하부 선형 편광판 상의 각각에 적층된 상하부 λ/4 위상 지연판으로 구성되고, 상기 상부 선형 편광판의 광축 및 상기 하부 선형 편광판의 광축 중 어느 하나의 광축은 상기 러빙 방향과 일치하는 것을 특징으로 하는 OCB 모드 액정표시장치.

- 제1항에 있어서,상기 상부 λ/4 위상 지연판의 광축 및 상기 하부 λ/4 위상 지연판의 광축 중 어느 하나의 광축은 상기 러빙 방향과 45°를 이루는 것을 특징으로 하는 OCB 모드 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 상하부 위상 지연 필름의 위상 지연 범위는 20~100㎚의 정면값과 200~400㎚의 두께 방향값을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 OCB 모드 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 상하부 λ/4 위상 지연판은 가시광 파장 범위인 400~800㎚에서 λ/4 위상 지연값을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 OCB 모드 액정표시장치.
