Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent generation of void parts in a display area by arranging subdivision lines on a side of a black mask having larger thickness to the same direction as a TFT forming part, and regulating at the same time cell gaps by allowing the subdivision lines to contact with TFT. CONSTITUTION:Black stripes of lines in either x direction or y direction among black stripes 19x, 19y constituting a black mask 19 which subdivides a color filter 17 for every color, is formed to have a thicker film than black stripes of other lines in other directions. Namely, black stripes 19x or black stripes 19y on the black mask 19 having larger film thickness are interposed in a liquid crystal cell and allowed to contact with a TFT 13 formed on the inside face of a display substrate 11, and regulate cell gaps to a specified manner. Therefore, regulation of the cell gap with a gap material is no more necessary. By this constitution, generation of void parts due to a gap material in an effective display area is prevented.
