Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the transmission efficiency through decreased amount of insertion of the entire fill bit, by inserting the fill bit according to the data compression rate every a plurality of lines in which the minimum transmission time is decided, in a facsimile system performing data compression. CONSTITUTION:A facsimile system is provided with a buffer memory 5 having the storage capacity X2-block for a plurality of lines' share, e.g., 32-line's share. After the initial set of the memory 5 and compression/decoding device 6, the read-in operation in 32-line unit is started through the instruction of the mechanism controller 4 with a system controller 10, and when one block of the memory 5 is filled in with video data, a device 6 is started for operation. In this case, the minimum transmission time in 32-line unit is determined and the fill bit is inserted every 32-line unit according to the data compression rate. Thus, the amount of insertion of fill bit as a whole can be reduced and the transmission efficiency can be increased.
