PURPOSE:To improve the shelf stability of a silver halide photographic product by specifying the pH of the back layer substance of the support of a photographic material contg. a developer substance. CONSTITUTION:In case of a photographic material contg. a developer substance in at least one of the silver halide (back layer) of the support is formed with a hydrophilic binder such as gelatin, and the pH of the back layer is adjusted to <=4.5 with an inorg. or org. acid. When the resulting silver halide photographic material is stored over a long term, the developer substance contained in the emulsion or nonsenstitive layer exists while preventing air oxidation perfectly or almost perfectly, and no unfavorable influence is exerted on the photographic characteristics.
