Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a ligh-weight high-strength carrier for catalyst by a method wherein a coated layer is formed on the surface of particle-type substrate consisiting of an organic substance by supplying water and an organic substance added with a small amount of metal oxide. CONSTITUTION:Powder material for granulation, consisting of an inorganic substance such as active alumina is supplied from the hopper 11 to the tray-type granulating machine 13 through the quantity feeder 12, and is formed into grains while spraying water. The grained products are dropped onto the vibrating sieve 15 having vibrator 14 and classified into proper grains. These grains are sent to the granulating machine 21, where the water feeder 22 supplies water and the powder feeder 23 supplies a powder mixture in which metal oxide such as rare earth element is added to an inorganic refractory material. This method forms a powder-coated layer on the surface of core and thus provided simply a catalyst carrier having excellent strength and anti-vibration property.
