Abstract
PURPOSE: To form a starting circuit with excellent starting characteristics and return characteristics by a method wherein a positive characteristic thermistor, whose negative characteristics of resistance is extremely large in a temperature region less than the temperature of a point that resistance suddenly changes, is connected to an auxiliary winding circuit.
CONSTITUTION: A positive characteristic thermistor with a negative characteristic region that the ratio of the minimum resistance value in a temperature region between 25°C and the temperature 116°C of a point, at which resistance suddenly changes, to the resistance value of 25°C is not more than 0.55 is connected in series with the auxiliary winding 2 of a single-phase induction motor with main winding 1 and the auxiliary winding 2 connected in parallel with the main winding. Consequently, the voltage drop of the thermistor becomes smaller with temperature rise up to temperature near the one of the point, at which the resistance suddenly changes, self-calorification is delayed only by the portion, and starting time can be protracted, thus eliminating the need for the enlargement of the thermal capacity of the thermistor, then forming thermistor itself in a small-sized shape while improving starting characteristics and return characteristics.
