Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify the construction of a motive power absorption controller, reduce its weight and maintain an enough capability of motive power absorption, by connecting a high-pressure gas feed pipe for an expansion engine to a chamber for controlling the absorption of motive power and by providing an orifice in the gas feed pipe and regulating the degree of opening of the orifice.
CONSTITUTION: When an exhaust valve 6 is open, a high-pressure gas enters from a high-pressure pipe 9 into a chamber 8 for controlling the absorption of motive power. As a result, a piston 2 is moved down. When the piston reaches the bottom dead center, a high pressure intake valve 5 is opened. At that time, the high-pressure gas introduced into a working sapce 7 pushes up the piston 2 because the diameter of the chamber 8 is made smaller than that of the working space 7. The gas in the chamber 8 is then returned to the high-pressure pipe 9. An orifice 11 provided in the pipe 9 is regulated and a cooling fan or the like is mounted outside the chamber 8 to maintain enough speed control and motive power absorption.
