Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent rise of a runner of a Kaplan turbine effectively that is caused at the time of stopping the turbine, by opening an air supply valve simultaneously with closing of a guide vane, and feeding compressed air into a runner chamber.
CONSTITUTION: Simultaneously with closing of a guide vane 6, an air supply valve 4 is opened for feeding compressed air from an air supply pipe 3 into a runner chamber 2 by means of a compression pump 5. Resultantly, the runner 1 is rotated in the air, so that the thrust acted to the rotating system is only the downward force by the weight of the rotating system. Therefore, it is enabled to prevent rise of the runner 1 effectively that is caused at the time of stopping the turbine.
