Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the subject porcelain wherein Li2O is added as an auxiliary component to a KNbO3-NaNbO3 soild solution thereby to facilitate sintering thereof, to lower the transmission factor, and reduce the mechanical quality coeficient.
CONSTITUTION: Powders of K2CO3, Na2CO3 Nb2O3, and Li2CO3 respectively as raw materials are mixed with predetermined quantities of anhydrous ethanol, and preheated at a temperature in the range of from 700∼1000°C. After the pulverization thereof, the powders are molded under pressure of 700Kg/cm2 and sintered at a temperature in the range of from 1000∼1300°C, and an electric field of 4∼2KV/mm is applied in silicon oil at a temperature in the range of from 180∼130°C for 30 minutes. In a KxNa1-x NbO3 composition, with x of less than 0.02, piezoelectricity becomes small, and with x of above 0.5, the piezoelectricity is lowered and the transmission factor becomes large. With less than 0.01% by weight of LiO2 the effect of characteristic improvement becomes small, and with 0.5% by weight of LiO2, the dielectric loss becomes large and the specific resistance is reduced.
