Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively make superior development, by detecting change of electrical characteristics of toner to apply proper voltage to necessary members.
CONSTITUTION: Detecting unit 7 for detecting specific resistivity or specific dielectric constant of toner 4 is connected via voltage controllr 6 to charge injecting source 5 connected to side wall 3a of hopper 3, and further connected via voltage controller 11 to bias source 10 connected to sleeve 1. As a result, unit 7 detects the specific resistivity or specific dielectric constant of magnetic toner 4 by a pair of opposite electrodes 9 interposing the toner, and voltage controllers 6 and 11 control sources 5 and 10 in accordance with the result detected to apply the most suitable charge voltage and bias voltage for the electric characteristics of toner 4 to sleeve 1 and toner 4 on this.
