Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent scattering of the toner, by arranging a conductive electrode in the position opposite to the electrostatic latent image carrier in the inlet part of the developing device and by applying the voltage of the same polarity as the toner to this electrode to form an electric field between the electrode and the electrostatic latent image carrier.
CONSTITUTION: Developing roller 12 is arranged under photosensitive material drum 1 and is constituted with nonmagnetic sleeve 13 and magnets 14a and 14b fixed to the inside of it. Electrode 18 is provided at the end part of the inlet part of developing vessel 16 for the purpose of forming the electric field for toner scattering prevention in front of developing part D. The voltage of the polarity opposite to the electrostatic latent image, namely, the same polarity as the toner is applied to electrode 18 by power source 19. The scatterred toner is caused to go toward the photosensitive material drum 1 side forcedly by the electric field formed in this manner, thus preventing the toner from scattering outside the developing device.
