Sasol社からCatapal Bとして市販で入手可能な原料であるベーマイトは、ベーマイトの総重量に対して42%の固体(ベーマイト)、1重量%の種材料(α−アルミナ)、およびベーマイトの総重量に対して2.5重量%の硝酸を含む混合物中に組み込む。この混合物は、液体担体としての水を使用してスラリーの形態にあってよい。このスラリーは、周囲条件下でゲル化する。
実施例1の成形研磨粒子材料は、以下の処理にしたがって被覆研磨サンプル(CAS1)に形成する。平坦な織布基板は、2つの直接塗布法によってレゾール型フェノール樹脂の下引き接着剤層で被覆する。成形研磨粒子材料は、静電的投射処理によって基板へそれらを付着させるために下引き接着剤層内に配置する。下引き接着剤層は、およそ1.5時間の期間にわたり空気の雰囲気下で175〜225°Fの温度のオーブンによって硬化させる。下引き接着剤層を形成した後、氷晶石を含有するレゾール型フェノール樹脂の上引き接着剤層を成形研磨粒子材料の上方に形成し、1.5〜3時間の期間にわたり空気の雰囲気下において175〜225°Fの温度のオーブンによって硬化させる。
CaまたはMg単独の添加物を含む従来型材料のサンプル、および制御された量のCaおよびMgを含む典型的サンプルを含む様々なサンプルを対象に、硬度および靱性を測定した。下記の表1は、三角形の二次元形状を備える成形研磨粒子である研磨粒子のサンプルの硬度、靱性、および脆砕性を含む機械的特性を表示している。表1のデータには、制御された量のCaおよびMgを有する本明細書に記載の実施形態による典型的サンプル(S1、S2、およびS3)が含まれ、特にこれらのサンプルは適切な硬度、靱性、および脆砕性の特性を示している。さらに、極めて予想外であることに、Caの添加はこれらの典型的サンプルの硬度を減少させない。
Claims (14)
- 研磨粒子材料を含む研磨製品であって、前記研磨粒子材料はアルミナ結晶及び前記研磨粒子材料内に含浸させた第1添加組成物を有しており、
アルミナ結晶の含有量は少なくとも90重量%であり、
前記第1添加組成物はMgおよびCaの組み合わせを含み、Mgの重量%およびCaの重量%は、前記研磨粒子材料中に1:1〜10:1の範囲内にあり、
さらに前記研磨粒子材料の総重量に対して少なくとも0.3重量%のCaをさらに含む研磨製品。 - 前記アルミナ結晶は、α−アルミナを含む、請求項1に記載の研磨製品。
- 前記研磨粒子材料は、前記研磨材料の総重量に基づいて少なくとも0.25重量%のCaおよび2重量%以下のCaを含む、請求項1に記載の研磨製品。
- 前記研磨粒子材料は、前記研磨粒子材料の総重量に基づいて少なくとも0.1重量%のMgおよび5重量%以下のMgを含む、請求項1に記載の研磨製品。
- 前記研磨粒子材料は、8重量%以下の第1添加組成物を含む、請求項1に記載の研磨製品。
- 前記研磨粒子材料は、前記アルミナ結晶および前記第1添加組成物から本質的に成る、請求項1に記載の研磨製品。
- 前記Mgの重量%および前記Caの重量%は、1:1〜9:1の範囲内にある、請求項1に記載の研磨製品。
- 前記研磨粒子材料は1つの輪郭を含み、前記輪郭は多面形を含む、請求項1に記載の研磨製品。
- 前記研磨粒子材料は、固定砥粒の一部である、請求項1に記載の研磨製品。
- アルミナ結晶と第1添加組成物とを含む研磨製品であって、
アルミナ結晶の含有量は少なくとも90重量%であり、
前記第1添加組成物は第1アルカリ土類元素とCaとを含み、
Caは前記第1アルカリ土類元素以下の量で存在し、Caの含有量は少なくとも0.3重量%であり、
前記第1添加組成物の大部分は前記アルミナ結晶の結晶境界に選択的に局在する研磨製品。 - 前記第1アルカリ土類元素はMgを含み、前記研磨粒子材料は前記研磨粒子材料の総重量に基づいて5重量%以下のMgを含む、請求項10に記載の研磨製品。
- 前記研磨粒子材料は、第2添加組成物を含み、前記第2添加組成物は、Y2O3、La2O3、BaO、Cr2O3、CoO、Fe2O3、GeO2、HfO2、MnO、NiO、Sc2O3、SrO、TiO2、ZnO、ZrO2、およびそれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される材料を含む、請求項10に記載の研磨製品。
- 研磨製品を形成する方法であって:
多孔質アルミナ材料を形成する工程;および
含浸粒子材料を形成するために前記多孔質アルミナ材料を第1添加組成物で含浸する工程であって、前記第1添加組成物はMgおよびCaの組み合わせを有し、前記研磨粒子材料中のMgの重量%およびCaの重量%は1:1〜10:1の範囲内にある工程を含み、
前記研磨製品は、少なくとも90重量%のアルミナ結晶及び少なくとも0.3重量%のCaを含む、方法。 - 含浸は、前記第1添加組成物の種を含有する前駆体塩材料を前記多孔質アルミナ材料と混合する工程を含む、請求項13に記載の方法。
