Description
乾燥ベースで、
a)澱粉45から90重量%と、
b)ポリビニルアルコール、ポリビニルアセテート、およびエチレンとビニルアルコールとの共重合体とから選択され、溶融状態の前記澱粉成分と適合する融点を有する、水溶性ポリマー0.1から15重量%と、
c)50〜6000、より好ましくは50〜2500、なおより好ましくは100〜400の範囲の分子量を有し、望ましくは、ソルビトール、グリセロール、マルチトール、キシリトール、マンニトール、エリスリトール、グリセロールトリオレエート、トリブチルシトレート、アセチルトリエチルシトレート、グリセリルトリアセテート、2,2,4−トリメチル−1,3−ペンタンジオールジイソブチレート、ポリエチレンオキシド、エチレングリコール、ジエチレングリコールおよびポリエチレングリコールからなる群から選択される1種または複数の可塑剤5から45重量%と、
を含む、生分解性のポリマー組成物であって、この組成物から形成された材料において、当該材料を通過するガスの透過を防止するまたは最小化する組成物を提供する。
1)より高いまたはより低い水準のヒドロキシプロピル化した澱粉、
2)より高い水準の非改質澱粉(これは、改質澱粉のヒドロキシプロピル化の水準が増加するなら可能でありうる)、
3)より高い疎水性の程度を有する、無水オクテニルコハク酸(OSA;octenyl succinic anhydride)により改質される澱粉(この改質澱粉を添加することにより、置換の程度が増加するとともに、耐水性が増加する。本発明のポリマーから形成されるフィルムが、流動体を含むパッケージ用途にバリヤ層として組み入れられ、この状況における相対湿度が90%以下でありうるときに、これは該当する。このOSA澱粉中のアセチル結合は、水および生物学的活性環境に接近したときに、その材料が生分解性を保持することを保証する。)、または
4)澱粉共重合体、好ましくは澱粉でグラフトしたスチレンブタジエンからなる澱粉共重合体(この材料は、製品の耐衝撃性を改善する。)
選択した、一般的なパッケージ材料、およびパッケージ目的のバリヤフィルムの酸素透過性を、表3に比較の手段として示す。選択した、一般的なパッケージ材料、およびパッケージ目的のバリヤフィルムの二酸化酸素透過性を、表4に比較の手段として示す。
この材料は、同方向または逆方向の回転の2軸スクリュー押出機または選択した設計の1軸スクリュー押出機を用いて押出混合することにより製造される。好ましい工程は、少なくとも10barの押出圧力で、少なくとも100RPMのスクリュー速度での2軸スクリュー同方向回転混合である。他の可塑剤の量および性質によって、この工程(可塑剤と一緒の液体注入により)に水を加えることができる。押出物ストランドについての、対流乾燥、接触加熱、IR加熱もしくはマイクロ波乾燥、粒状物についての遠心分離および流動層、または容器の通気、あるいはこれらの組合せにより、水の除去を行うことができる。水中ペレット製造、ダイフェースカット、またはストランドの冷却およびカットにより、粒状物を得ることができる。
同時射出(Co-injection)
ホットランナーシステムまたはコールドランナーシステムで行われる、従来のスクリュー駆動工程または射出駆動工程を用いて、この組成物を射出成形することができる。本発明の組成物は、高温での同時射出成形のためのPETと適合するように設計されている。本発明の組成物は、業界標準の予備成形同時射出機でうまく同時射出成形されることが見込まれている。予備成形の型の冷たい半分(cold half)は標準的な設計であることが見込まれ、熱い半分(hot half)は特別な設計でありうる。2つの材料を、分離したマニホールド(多岐管、連結管)に運び、ノズル中で合わせ、環状の流れパターンを形成することができる。それぞれのマニホールドの温度制御を、良好な熱的分離により別々にすることができる。このノズルは、両方の材料流れが同一の温度でなくてはならない、マニホールドシステムの唯一の部分である。この温度は一般に、PETの要件に適合する約250〜280℃である。1/2リットル瓶のための、典型的な予備成形体28gのための加工条件を表5に示す。
標準的な工業用脱湿乾燥機中で、材料の必要な乾燥をすることができる。
本発明の組成物を、従来の延伸ブロー成形ラインで、瓶中に容易にブローすることができる。予備成形温度は100から120℃の範囲であってよく、35から45barのブロー成形圧力が使用されるであろう。
50dyne/cmを超える表面張力を有するバリヤ材料の極性のため、かつ結晶化度に関連した収縮がないために、PETとの接着が優れていることが見込まれている。
バリヤ層は、一般に多層構造の全層厚さの約5〜20%を構成する。そのため、その機械特性は、最終製品の機械特性に幾分寄与するであろう。バリヤ材料の機械特性が低いときには、何らかの埋め合わせが必要とされ得る。すなわち、容器の壁の厚さをわずかに増加させることにより(しかしながら、バリヤ層の厚さを上回らず、したがって最大10%増で)、従来のバリヤ材料に比べて削減したコストで優れたバリヤ特性を得られるという利点により、このことは相殺される。また、瓶ブロー工程において、軸方向延伸が、約1.5×から3.5×であり、フープ延伸が、約3.5×から5×であるとき、伸び挙動が重要である。この延伸は、加熱形状中で生じ、バリヤ層は、マトリックス(母材)により支持される。表6で本発明に係るバリヤ材料の機械特性を、射出延伸ブロー成形用の市販の材料と比較している。
本発明のバリヤ材料を、光学印刷およびワニスとともに、単層の製品として用いることもできる。この材料は熱成形加工にも理想的に適するため、生じるフィルムは、菓子類の棒状物もしくは袋(パウチ)のために薄く、または熱成形用途のために厚くすることができた。
本発明の配合物は、薄手フィルムの押出注型(extrusion casting)に適する。当業者は、適切な可塑剤量を選択することができ、必要な用途のための、必要な溶融強度および機械特性を得ることができる。
本発明において用いられる好ましい組成物は、低温封止および熱封止が可能である。
本発明のバリヤ材料は、積層体に同時押出し(共押出し)することができ、または、別個の積層段階で、従来のフィルムポリマー(例えば2軸配向PP)と合わせることができる。他の材料は、適切な、ポリプロピレン(PP)、ポリエチレン(PE)もしくは低密度ポリエチレン(LDPE)等のパッケージポリマー、またはポリ乳酸(PLA)もしくは他のポリエステル等の生分解性ポリマーでありうる。
加えて、耐水性が片側のみで必要とされ、または水蒸気バリヤがパッケージされた製品に必要でないならば、2層パッケージ包装の内部または外部の層にもなることができる。当業者は、適切な可塑剤量を選択し、所望のポリマーの組合せに適合する必要な粘度を得ることができる。ほとんどの場合では、フィードブロック(feed block)が様々な材料層の制御に適しており、他の場合では、マルチマニホールドダイがより望ましいことがある。
本発明のフィルムは、PET等の極性材料との接着に優れるが、一般的な結合層樹脂であるBO−PP等の非極性材料との接着も示されている。
多層2軸配向フィルム押出についての上述の原理によく従いながら、このバリヤ材料を、必要であれば類似の結合層の原理を用いて、ブローしたフィルムに同時押出(共押出)することができる。
著しくより低いコストで、最も一般的に用いられる材料(例えばMXD6)よりも良好なバリヤ性を提供するバリヤ材料の中でも、本発明の組成物は他に類を見ず、層の厚さ、および化合物の価格の点の両方で、コスト削減が可能である。
このバリヤ材料の成分の性質は、オイルベースのポリマーと比べてその価格安定性を、MXD6と比べて価格競争性を保証する。これらは一般に、MXD6の価格の80%で有利に入手できる。
さらに、この組成物の水溶性は、このバリヤが合わされるマトリックス(母材)材料に優れた再生利用可能性を提供する。この材料は、単層構造バリヤパッケージとして用いられると、さらに肥料にでき生分解性であり、かつ環境温度でごみとして崩壊し生分解する。これらの他に類を見ない特性は、配合中における化合物の組合せによるものである。
Claims (21)
- 乾燥ベースで、
a)澱粉45から90重量%;
b)ポリビニルアルコール、ポリビニルアセテート、およびエチレンとビニルアルコールとの共重合体から選択され、溶融状態の前記澱粉成分と適合する融点を有する、水溶性ポリマー0.1から15重量%;および
c)マルチトール、キシリトール、およびエリスリトールからなる群から選択される2種以上の可塑剤5から45重量%;
を含む生分解性ポリマー組成物を含有し、通過するガスの透過を防止または最小化する、バリヤ材料。 - 更に充填剤またはナノ粒子を含む、請求項1記載のバリヤ材料。
- 前記充填剤が、炭酸カルシウム、カオリン、粘土、二酸化チタン、滑石(タルク)、天然繊維および合成繊維から選択される、請求項2記載のバリヤ材料。
- 60%以下の相対湿度で、0.1cm3 mm/m2 日 atm以下の酸素透過係数を
有する、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載のバリヤ材料。 - 前記澱粉が、高アミロース澱粉および/または、ヒドロキシルアルキル基、アセテート、もしくは無水ジカルボン酸、またはグラフトポリマーとの反応により改質された澱粉から選択される改質澱粉である、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載のバリヤ材料。
- 前記ヒドロキシルアルキル基が、ヒドロキシプロピル基、ヒドロキシエチル基およびヒドロキシブチル基から選択される、請求項5記載のバリヤ材料。
- 前記無水ジカルボン酸が、無水マレイン酸、無水フタル酸および無水オクテニルコハク酸から選択される、請求項5記載のバリヤ材料。
- 前記改質澱粉が、ヒドロキシルプロピル化した高アミロース澱粉である、請求項5記載のバリヤ材料。
- 乾燥ベースで2.5重量%以下のC12〜22の脂肪酸または塩を追加的に含む、請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載のバリヤ材料。
- 1と22との間の親水性・親油性バランス(HLB)値を有する乳化剤を3%以下で追加的に含む、請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載のバリヤ材料。
- 成分b)がポリビニルアルコールである、請求項1から10のいずれか一項に記載のバリヤ材料。
- ポリエチレンテレフタレートまたはポリ乳酸と請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載のバリヤ材料との同時射出成形積層体。
- 印刷またはラベリングされた射出成形部分を製造するために型内ラベリング工程中で使用するための、請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載のバリヤ材料の同時押出または単層のフィルム。
- 型内ラベリングおよび/または型内装飾の工程中でのバリヤ層として使用するための、請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載のバリヤ材料の、同時押出または単層のフィルム。
- 飲料瓶にブロー成形するための、請求項12に記載の同時射出成形積層体の予備成形物。
- ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレンまたはポリ乳酸の、請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載のバリヤ材料との同時押出積層体。
- 薄手フィルムパッケージの用途のための、請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載のバリヤ材料の単層のフィルム。
- 薄手フィルムパッケージの用途のための、請求項16に記載の同時押出積層体。
- 印刷または射出成形された部分を製造するための型内ラベリング工程中での、請求項13または14に記載のバリヤ材料の同時押出または単層のフィルムの使用。
- 型内ラベリングおよび/または型内装飾の工程中でのバリヤ層としての、請求項13または14に記載のバリヤ材料の同時押出または単層のフィルムの使用。
- 薄手フィルムパッケージの用途のための、請求項17に記載のバリヤ材料の単層のフィルムの使用。
