Description
また、画素がマトリクス状に配置され、映像データに応じて各画素の表示を行うアクティブマトリクス型表示装置であって、映像データを格納する1ビットのメモリを備え映像データに基づく表示を行う画素を、マトリクス状に配置した画素メモリと、画素毎に複数ビットで構成される映像データを格納するフレームメモリと、フレームメモリに格納されている画素毎の映像データを読み出し、該当画素に供給する信号制御手段と、を含むとともに、各画素は、供給される映像信号を格納する少なくとも1ビットのスタティックメモリと、このスタティックメモリに格納されている映像信号に応じて発光する発光素子と、を含む分割画素を複数含み、前記信号制御手段は、フレームメモリに格納されている映像信号を読み出し該当画素に供給するが、前記画素を構成する分割画素の一部についてサブフレームを用いて点灯期間を制御することで複数ビットのデジタルデータに対する表示を複数の分割画素を用いて行い、前記画素メモリ及び前記フレームメモリの各ビットデータに対するアドレスが各サブフレームの経過に伴って入れ替えられる履歴を管理するアドレス管理テーブルを有し、ビットデータを読み出す際、前記アドレス管理テーブルからアドレスデータを特定することで、ビットデータ入れ替えに伴うアドレス変換を実現することを特徴とする。
図1に示される表示装置は、データドライバ20、ゲートドライバ26、画素メモリ25から構成されている。ゲートドライバ26と画素メモリ25は、しばしば同一基板上に形成されることもある。しかし、ゲートドライバ26は別のICとしてもよく、また別のICとして構成されたデータドライバ20に含めてられていてもよい。なお、データドライバ20を、画素メモリ25と同一基板上に形成してもよい。
図10にはその例が示されており、PM[2]は「5」、PM[1]は「4」、PM[0]は「3」、FM[2]は「2」、FM[1]は「1」、FM[0]は「0」というアドレスを割り振り、その内容は図9に対応している。
サブフレーム表示がなされる分割画素は10−0のみであり、サブフレームは4ビット分で済むため、アドレス管理は分割画素がない場合と比較してより容易となる。
Claims (5)
- 映像データを格納する1ビットのメモリを備え映像データに基づく表示を行う画素を、マトリクス状に配置した画素メモリと、
映像データを格納する外部メモリと、
を含み、
前記画素メモリと外部メモリとで映像データを入れ替えて、画素における映像の表示を制御し、
前記画素メモリの1つの画素には、それぞれが1ビットのメモリを備える分割画素が複数備えられ、
前記画素を構成する分割画素の一部はサブフレームを用いて点灯期間を制御することで複数ビットのデジタルデータに対する表示を複数の分割画素を用いて行い、
前記画素メモリ及び前記外部メモリの各ビットデータに対するアドレスが各サブフレームの経過に伴って入れ替えられる履歴を管理するアドレス管理テーブルを有し、ビットデータを読み出す際、前記アドレス管理テーブルからアドレスデータを特定することで、ビットデータ入れ替えに伴うアドレス変換を実現することを特徴とするアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置において、
前記外部メモリは一画面分より少ないメモリ容量であることを特徴とするアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置において、
前記画素は少なくとも一組の同等な点灯強度を有する分割画素を含むことを特徴とするアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 請求項1または3に記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置において、
前記分割画素は有機EL素子を含むことを特徴とするアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 画素がマトリクス状に配置され、映像データに応じて各画素の表示を行うアクティブマトリクス型表示装置であって、
映像データを格納する1ビットのメモリを備え映像データに基づく表示を行う画素を、マトリクス状に配置した画素メモリと、
画素毎に複数ビットで構成される映像データを格納するフレームメモリと、
フレームメモリに格納されている画素毎の映像データを読み出し、該当画素に供給する信号制御手段と、
を含むとともに、
各画素は、
供給される映像信号を格納する少なくとも1ビットのスタティックメモリと、このスタティックメモリに格納されている映像信号に応じて発光する発光素子と、を含む分割画素を複数含み、
前記信号制御手段は、
フレームメモリに格納されている映像信号を読み出し該当画素に供給するが、前記画素を構成する分割画素の一部についてサブフレームを用いて点灯期間を制御することで複数ビットのデジタルデータに対する表示を複数の分割画素を用いて行い、
前記画素メモリ及び前記フレームメモリの各ビットデータに対するアドレスが各サブフレームの経過に伴って入れ替えられる履歴を管理するアドレス管理テーブルを有し、ビットデータを読み出す際、前記アドレス管理テーブルからアドレスデータを特定することで、ビットデータ入れ替えに伴うアドレス変換を実現する
ことを特徴とするアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。
