Description
図1は第1実施形態の画像形成装置の構成の説明図、図2は中間転写ベルトの断面構成の説明図である。第1実施形態の画像形成装置100は、中間転写ベルト28の直線区間にイエロー、マゼンタ、シアン、ブラックの画像形成部Pa、Pb、Pc、Pdを配列したタンデム型フルカラー複写機である。
記録材8へ二次転写されることなく二次転写領域T2を通過した転写残トナーは、中間転写ベルト28の移動に伴ってクリーニング装置12へ搬送されて、中間転写体上の一例である中間転写ベルト28上から除去される。中間転写体クリーニング手段の一例であるクリーニング装置12は、静電導電性ファーブラシ方式を採用している。
図3は吐き出し制御のシーケンスのタイムチャートである。図1を参照して図3に示すように、画像形成装置100では、現像装置23a、23b、23c、23dにおけるトナーの帯電状態を制御して画質を維持するために吐き出し制御を行う。現像剤の劣化を防ぐために、現像装置23a、23b、23c、23d内のトナーを感光ドラム21a、21b、21c、21dに吐き出して吐き出しトナー像を形成する。
図10は第2実施形態の画像形成装置の構成の説明図である。第2実施形態の画像形成装置200は、第1実施形態の中間転写ベルト28を記録材担持ベルト38に置き換えて構成される。そして、画像形成部Pa、Pb、Pc、Pd、クリーニング装置12、定着装置9等については第1実施形態と同様である。従って、図10中の対応する部材には図1中と同一の符号を付して重複する説明を省略する。

- トナー像を担持する像担持体と、
前記像担持体に形成された静電潜像を現像する現像手段と、
転写領域にて前記像担持体上のトナー像を中間転写体へ転写する転写部材と、
前記中間転写体上のトナーを静電的に除去する中間転写体クリーニング手段と、を有し、
非画像形成時に前記現像手段から前記像担持体へトナーを吐き出すことで前記像担持体上に吐き出しトナー像が形成される画像形成装置において、
吐き出しトナー像が前記転写領域を通過中に、前記転写部材にトナーの正規の帯電極性と同極性であって絶対値が放電開始電圧の絶対値よりも大きい電圧を印加する電源と、
前記電圧を印加中に前記転写領域で前記中間転写体に付着したトナーを、前記中間転写体クリーニング手段で回収するモードを実行可能な制御手段と、を有することを特徴とする画像形成装置。 - 前記放電開始電圧をV0とし、前記モード中に前記転写部材へ印加される電圧をV1とするとき、
|V0|+200V≦|V1|≦|V0|+2000Vであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画像形成装置。 - トナー像を担持する像担持体と、
前記像担持体に形成された静電潜像を現像する現像手段と、
転写領域にて前記像担持体上のトナー像を記録材担持体に担持された記録材へ転写する転写部材と、
前記記録材担持体上のトナーを静電的に除去する記録材担持体クリーニング手段と、を有し、
非画像形成時に前記現像手段から前記像担持体へトナーを吐き出すことで前記像担持体上に吐き出しトナー像が形成される画像形成装置において、
吐き出しトナー像が前記転写領域を通過中に、前記転写部材にトナーの正規の帯電極性と同極性であって絶対値が放電開始電圧の絶対値よりも大きい電圧を印加する電源と、
前記電圧を印加中に前記転写領域で前記記録材担持体に付着したトナーを、前記記録材担持体クリーニング手段で回収するモードを実行可能な制御手段と、を有することを特徴とする画像形成装置。 - 前記放電開始電圧をV0とし、前記モード中に前記転写部材へ印加される電圧をV1とするとき、
|V0|+200V≦|V1|≦|V0|+2000Vであることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の画像形成装置。
