Claims (13)
- 第1基板および第2基板それぞれに形成された配向膜が互いに反対方向に配向されて、前記配向膜によって水平に配向された液晶層が前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間に形成される電界制御複屈折モード液晶パネルと、
前記第1基板の液晶層が形成される側とは反対側に具備された第1偏光板と、
前記第2基板の液晶層が形成される側とは反対側に具備された第2偏光板と、
前記電界制御複屈折モード液晶パネルと前記第1偏光板との間には具備することなく、前記電界制御複屈折モード液晶パネルと前記第2偏光板との間のみに具備され、前記電界制御複屈折モード液晶パネルに具備された液晶層の配向方向と水平方向に80゜ないし100゜傾けられて光軸が配置された位相差フィルムと、が含まれており、
前記位相差フィルムは、光学軸が前記第2基板の平面に対して傾斜し、負のレターデーション値を有する単軸性フィルムであることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2基板は、ゲート電極、ソース電極、及びドレイン電極からなる薄膜トランジスタと、
前記薄膜トランジスタの上部に形成され、前記ドレイン電極を露出するコンタクトホールが具備された保護層と、
前記保護層の上部に形成され、前記コンタクトホールを通じてドレイン電極と連結される画素電極と、
が含まれて構成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1基板は、前記第2基板に形成された薄膜トランジスタに対応する位置に形成されたブラックマトリックスと、
前記ブラックマットリックスの間に、赤色、緑色、および青色が順次繰り返されて形成されたカラーフィルタパターンと、
前記カラーフィルタパターンの上部に順次形成されたオーバーコート層及び共通電極と、
が含まれて構成されることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2偏光板の下部にバックライトがさらに具備されることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1偏光板の透過軸及び第2偏光板の透過軸は、前記電界制御複屈折モード液晶パネルに具備された液晶層の配向方向に対して35゜ないし55゜傾けられて配置されることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1偏光板の透過軸及び第2偏光板の透過軸は、前記電界制御複屈折モード液晶パネルに具備された液晶層の配向方向に対して45゜傾けられて配置されることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1偏光板の透過軸及び第2偏光板の透過軸は、互いに80゜ないし100゜の角度差を有するように配置されることを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1偏光板の透過軸及び第2偏光板の透過軸は、互いに直交するように配置されることを特徴とする請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記位相差フィルムの負のレターデーション値は、−10nmないし−60nmであることを特徴とする請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記位相差フィルムの負のレターデーション値は、−35nmであることを特徴とする請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記位相差フィルムの光軸は、前記電界制御複屈折モード液晶パネルに具備された液晶層の配向方向と直交するように配置されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記位相差フィルムの光軸とこれに対面する第2偏光板の透過軸は、互いに35゜ないし55゜の角度差を有するように配置されることを特徴とする請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記位相差フィルムの光軸とこれに対面する第2偏光板の透過軸は、互いに45゜の角度差を有するように配置されることを特徴とする請求項1〜12のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
