Description
各実験例1〜10においては、上述した実施の形態において、図1を用いて説明した構成の表示素子11を形成した。ただし、各実験例においては、電子注入層14eとして、それぞれの材料を各膜厚で用いた。以下に先ず、実験例1〜10の表示素子11の製造手順を説明する。
比較例1においては、実験例1の電子注入層14eに換えて、アルミキノリノール錯体(Alq3:8-hydroxyquinoline aluminum)からなる電子輸送層を20nmの膜厚で設けた表示素子を作製した。
比較例2においては、実験例1の電子注入層14eを20nmの膜厚に変更した表示素子を作製した。
比較例3においては、実験例3の発光層14cと電子注入層14eとの間に、アルミキノリノール錯体(Alq3)からなる電子輸送層を15nmの膜厚で設けた表示素子を作製した。
以上で作製した実験例1〜10および比較例1〜3の表示素子について、電流密度10mA/cm2で駆動させた場合における(1)駆動電圧(V)および(2)電流効率(cd/A)を測定して表1にまとめた。また、これらの表示素子について、電流密度125mA/cm2で定電流駆動させ、初期輝度を1とした相対輝度が10%低下する時間を(3)寿命として測定し、この際の(4)駆動電圧上昇幅(ΔV)を測定して表1にまとめた。
各実験例11〜14においても、上述の表示素子11を形成した。これらの実験例は、発光層14cが燐光を発する物質を含むことを特徴とする。また、表示素子11は、陽極13と陰極15との間で発光光を共振させるキャビティ構造を有しているものとする。以下、具体的な構成について説明するが、有機層14以外の構成については、実験例1〜10と同じであるため、その説明を省略する。
実験例11〜14の比較例として、比較例4では、電子注入層14eを用いる代わりに、ホールブロック層としてBCP[2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline]を成膜しその上部に電子輸送層としてアルミキノリノール錯体(Alq3)を成膜した。
以上で作製した実験例11〜14および比較例4の表示素子について、10mA/cm2の電流密度における(1)駆動電圧(V)および(2)電流効率(cd/A)を測定した。また、1.5mAの定電流駆動時の初期輝度を1とした相対輝度が0.9に低下する時間を(3)寿命として測定し、この際の(4)駆動電電圧上昇幅(ΔV)を測定し、表2にまとめた。
各実験例15〜24においても、上述の表示素子11を形成した。以下、具体的な構成について説明するが、陽極13および有機層14以外の構成については、実験例1〜10と同じであるため、その説明を省略する。
比較例5においては、正孔注入層14aとしてHI−406を単独で用いたこと以外は、実験例15〜24と同様の手順とした。
<比較例6>
比較例6においては、陽極13として、Ag合金からなる膜(膜厚約100nm)をスパッタによって形成し、その上にITOからなる膜(膜厚約10nm)をスパッタによって形成した。また、正孔注入層14aとしてHI−406を単独で用いた。それ以外は、実験例15〜24と同様の手順とした。
以上で作製した実験例15〜24および比較例5,6の表示素子について、10mA/cm2の電流密度における(1)駆動電圧(V)および(2)電流効率(cd/A)を測定した。また、1.5mAの定電流駆動時の初期輝度を1とした相対輝度が0.9に低下する時間を(3)寿命として測定し、この際の(4)駆動電電圧上昇幅(ΔV)を測定し、表3にまとめた。
Claims (6)
- 前記発光層は炭素および水素のみによって構成されている、請求項1記載の表示素子。
- 前記発光層は3級アミンを用いて構成されている、請求項1記載の表示素子。
- 前記発光層は燐光を発する物質を含む、請求項1記載の表示素子。
- 前記有機層は正孔注入層を備え、当該正孔注入層は少なくとも2つの異なる有機材料によって構成されている、請求項1記載の表示素子。
- 前記電子注入層は、アルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属、またはランタノイド(La、Ce、Pr、Nd、Sm、Eu、Gd、Tb、Dy、Ho、Er、Tm、Yb、Lu)、あるいはその酸化物、複合酸化物、またはフッ化物を少なくとも1つ含んでいる、請求項1記載の表示素子。
