吸収性構造体は、吸収性ポリマー粒子と、任意に、基材層によって支持され、かつ油性物質を含む熱可塑性接着剤材料によって該基材層上に固定された、セルロースとを含む。吸収性構造体は、油捕捉剤成分(oil-scavenger component)を更に含む。本明細書で使用するとき、「油捕捉剤」成分は、油性物質、例えば、鉱油又は有機性油を吸着する成分、又はその混合物を指す。かかる構成要素を吸収性構造体に加えることで、熱可塑性接着剤材料が含有する油性物質の分離及び移動に伴う上述した悪影響を低減する。
好適な油捕捉剤成分は、鉱油又は有機性油などの油性物質を吸着するのに有効である。好適な油捕捉剤成分は、特に吸収性構造体内で用いられる場合、基材層によって支持される吸収性ポリマー粒子の疎水化を防止しながら、油性物質を吸着するのに好適である。実際に、尿などの吸収すべき親水性物質に対する吸収性ポリマー粒子の親和性は、油捕捉剤成分を吸収性構造体に添加することによる悪影響を受けるべきでない、即ち、吸収性ポリマー粒子は尿をはじくべきでない。その結果、比率(AI油捕捉剤剤/AI対照)は1以上である(本明細書に開示される吸収指数試験に従って測定した場合)。
油捕捉剤成分として好適な非ポリマー有機化合物の例としては、少なくとも12個の炭素原子を有する脂肪族一価又は二価アルコール、少なくとも12個の炭素原子を有する脂肪族モノ−又はジカルボン酸、及びこれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される化合物が挙げられる。
油捕捉剤成分として好適な有機ポリマー粒子としては、高内相エマルション(HIPE)から製造される粒子が挙げられる。HIPEから製造される粒子は当該技術分野において既知であり、その内容が参照により本明細書に組み込まれる米国特許第5,387,207号、同第5,650,222号、同第6,369,121号、又はPCT国際公開特許WO 99/45878 A1、及び同WO 99/45878に記載されているように、油中水型エマルションを重合すことによって得ることができる。HIPEは、典型的には、フォームとして入手し、その後粒子に縮小される(例えば、微粉砕、切断、細断、研削、又はミリングにより)。
好適な油捕捉剤化合物としては、シリカ又は吸着粘土などの無機物質が挙げられる。これら物質は、それらの表面積が大きいことから(>200m2/g)、強力な油収着を可能にすると考えられている。
吸収性構造体の基材層は、吸収性ポリマー粒子を支持することができる任意の材料であってもよい。典型的には、フォーム、フィルム、織布材料及び/又は不織布材料のような、ウェブ又はシート材料である。
典型的には、本発明による吸収性構造体で使用するに好適な吸収性ポリマー粒子は、超吸収体に関する文献から既知である任意の吸収性ポリマー粒子を含むことができ、例えば、Modern Superabsorbent Polymer Technology,F.L.Buchholz,A.T.Graham,Wiley 1998に記載されているようなものである。
吸収性構造体は、1種以上の油性物質を含む熱可塑性材料を含む。上述のように、油性物質は、典型的には、熱可塑性接着剤材料の配合に可塑剤として使用される有機油又は鉱油である。こうした可塑剤は、典型的には、軟化点の低い低分子量(<2000g/モル)の化合物である。熱可塑性材料は、基材層上の吸収性ポリマー粒子を少なくとも部分的に固定する働きをすることができる。
上で開示されたように、本発明の吸収性構造体は油捕捉剤成分を含む。油捕捉剤成分は、油捕捉剤成分の少なくとも一部が、吸収性ポリマー粒子及び熱可塑性接着剤材料の両方と接触するように、吸収性構造体内に配置される。油捕捉剤成分は、吸収性ポリマー粒子と混合されてもよく、又は吸収性ポリマー粒子の表面上に散布されてもよく、得られた粒子は、その後基材層の上に配置される。あるいは、油捕捉剤成分は、吸収性ポリマー粒子を基材層の上に堆積させた後で吸収性ポリマー粒子の表面上に堆積されてもよい。油捕捉剤は粒子状であるのが好ましい。
上述のように、本発明の吸収性構造体は、使い捨て吸収性物品の吸収性コアを構成してもよく、又はその一部であってもよい。吸収性コアは、その場合、使い捨て吸収性物品、例えば、おむつ(乳児又は成人用おむつ、トレーニングパンツなどのパンツ式おむつ)、おむつホルダー、失禁用パッド、生理用ナプキン、及びパンティライナーに好適に組み込まれることができる。一般に、吸収性コアは、吸収性物品のトップシートとバックシートとの間に配置される。
この試験により、熱可塑性接着剤成分が、油捕捉剤成分の存在下又は非存在下で、設定された時間(例えば、60秒)以内に吸収性ポリマー粒子の吸収作用に与える影響を決定する。吸収率(g/gでの量)は、試料の構成要素(即ち、吸収性ポリマー粒子、熱可塑性接着剤材料、及び好ましくは油捕捉剤成分)を混合した直後に上記設定時間にわたって測定され、また、40℃又は60℃にて1週間にわたって経年処理した後に同じ設定時間にわたって測定される。
熱可塑性接着剤成分試料の調製
直径70mmのアルミニウムトレーの中に、熱可塑性接着剤材料を5グラム加える。熱可塑性接着剤材料が流れるのに十分なだけ柔らかくなるように、トレーを165℃の通気オーブンの中に1時間入れる。次に、このトレーをオーブンから取り出し、左右に緩やかに傾けて、流動可能な熱可塑性接着剤材料の均質コーティングをトレーの底面に確実に行き渡らせる。
冷却された熱可塑性接着剤材料の試料(上記の通りに調製)のうちの1つを有するトレーを天秤皿の上に置き、天秤の重さを量る。

2 HL 1358及びNW 1151はHB Fuller社より供給される熱可塑性接着剤材料である。
3 ドデカンニ酸及びヘキサデカンジオン酸はTCI社より供給される。
4 1,2−ドデカンジオール(純度90%)はAldrichs社より供給される。
5 FAMはP&G社より供給される(FAM−V−028サイズ〜2mm)。
6 FAMはP&G社より供給される(FAM−V−028−粉末〜200〜1000μm)。
7 ジビニルベンゼン架橋スチレンポリマーは、P&G社より供給され、米国特許出願第12/972593号に従って調製される。
8 Aerosil 200はEvonik社より供給される。
9 カオリンはMPSI社より供給される。
10 L597はNSCLより供給されるAGMである。
吸水性ポリマー粒子ASAP 510 Z(例えば、BASF A製、粒径範囲150〜850μmで販売)を、Permax 200(Noveon,Brecksville)で、2.5%のPermaxの付着レベルで、脱凝集剤と共に、次の通りコーティングした。
Claims (15)
- 使い捨て吸収性物品で使用するための吸収性構造体であって、
(a)基材層、
(b)前記基材層によって支持される吸収性ポリマー粒子、
(c)1種以上の油性物質を含み、かつ前記基材層の上の前記吸収性ポリマー粒子を固定する熱可塑性接着剤材料、
(d)前記吸収性ポリマー粒子及び前記熱可塑性接着剤材料と接触する油捕捉剤成分、
を含む吸収性構造体。 - 前記吸収性構造体が5重量%未満のセルロースを含む、請求項1に記載の吸収性構造体。
- 前記油捕捉剤成分が、吸収指数法に従って測定したとき、(AI油捕捉剤/AI対照)>1の比率を示す、請求項1又は2に記載の吸収性構造体。
- 前記吸収性ポリマー粒子の前記油捕捉剤成分に対する重量比が2:1〜1000:1である、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の吸収性構造体。
- 前記油捕捉剤成分が、
i.少なくとも12個の炭素原子を有する脂肪族一価又は二価アルコール、
ii.少なくとも12個の炭素原子を有する脂肪族モノ−又はジカルボン酸、
iii.高内相エマルションから製造される粒子、
iv.シリカ及び/又は吸着粘土の群から選択される無機物質、
v.及びこれらの組み合わせ、
からなる群から選択される、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の吸収性構造体。 - 前記吸収性構造体が、前記吸収性ポリマー粒子、前記油捕捉剤成分、及び前記熱可塑性接着剤材料を覆うカバー層を更に含む、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の吸収性構造体。
- 前記脂肪族一価又は二価アルコールが、1−オクタデカノール、1,2−ドデカンジオール、1,2−ヘキサデカンジオール、1−テトラデカノール、1,2−テトラデカンジオール、1,14−テトラデカンジオール、1−オクタデカノール、1,2−オクタデカンジオール、1,12−オクタデカンジオール、及びこれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、請求項5に記載の吸収性構造体。
- 前記脂肪族モノ−又はジカルボン酸が、ドデカン酸、オクタデカン酸、ヘキサデカンジオン酸、テトラデカン酸、テトラデカンジオン酸、及びこれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、請求項5に記載の吸収性構造体。
- 前記基材層が、不織布材料、フォーム、及びフィルムからなる群から選択される、請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の吸収性構造体。
- 前記油捕捉剤成分が粒子状であり、かつ0.005μm〜5mmの平均粒径を有する、請求項1〜9のいずれか一項に記載の吸収性構造体。
- 前記使い捨て吸収性物品が、おむつ、失禁用パッド、生理用ナプキン、及びパンティライナーからなる群から選択される、請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載の吸収性構造体。
- 請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載の吸収性構造体を製造する方法であって、
(a)基材層を用意する工程、
(b)吸収性ポリマー粒子を用意する工程、
(c)1種以上の油性物質を含む熱可塑性接着剤材料を用意する工程、
(d)粒子状の油捕捉剤成分を用意する工程、
及び
(e)前記油捕捉剤粒子及び前記吸収性ポリマー粒子を混合し、油捕捉剤粒子と吸収性ポリマー粒子との前記混合物を前記基材層の上に堆積させ、前記熱可塑性接着剤材料を油捕捉剤粒子と吸収性ポリマー粒子との前記混合物の上に堆積させる工程、又は
(f)前記油捕捉剤粒子を前記吸収性ポリマー粒子の上に散布し、前記吸収性ポリマー粒子を前記基材層の上に堆積させ、前記熱可塑性接着剤材料を前記吸収性ポリマー粒子の上に堆積させる工程、又は
(g)前記吸収性ポリマー粒子を前記基材層の上に堆積させ、前記油捕捉剤粒子を前記吸収性ポリマー粒子上に堆積させ、前記熱可塑性接着剤材料を前記油捕捉剤粒子の上に堆積させる工程、
を含む方法。 - 工程(e)又は(f)又は(g)の前に、追加の熱可塑性接着剤材料を前記基材層の上に堆積させる工程を更に含む、請求項12に記載の方法。
- カバー層を用意する工程、並びに該カバー層を前記吸収性ポリマー粒子、前記油捕捉剤成分、及び前記熱可塑性接着剤材料の上に配置する工程を更に含む、請求項12又は13に記載の方法。
- 工程(a)〜(d)及び工程(e)〜(g)の1つを少なくとも1回繰り返して更なる吸収性構造体を得る工程と、前記吸収性構造体を組み合わせて数個の吸収性構造体を含む吸収性コアを得る工程と、を含む、請求項12〜14のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
