Abstract
【解決手段】アレイ基板とカラーフィルタ基板とそれらの基板の間に充填された液晶層とから構成されるとともに、一つの画素が複数の副画素に分かれている液晶表示装置において、画素を駆動するための薄膜トランジスタに設けられたソース電極と、液晶層に電圧を印加するためのITO透明電極とを電気的に接続するためのコンタクトホールが、透過領域における段差近傍で、かつ、副画素同士をつないでいる接続部分に設けられている。

Description
以下、添付の図面を参照してこの発明による液晶表示装置の好ましい実施の形態を説明する。図3及び図4は、この発明の実施の形態1に係る液晶表示装置の構成を示す断面図および平面図である。図3及び図4は、A−Si型の半透過型液晶表示装置を例に挙げて記載している。また、QVGAのレゾリューションであり、画面の大きさは、対角2.4インチであり、垂直配向型の液晶表示装置である。また、誘電率異方性が負の液晶が使用されていて、電圧無印加にて垂直配向している。但し、これは一例であり、本発明はこれに限定されるものではない。
Claims (4)
- アレイ基板とカラーフィルタ基板とそれらの基板の間に充填された液晶層とから構成されるとともに、一つの画素が複数の副画素に分かれている液晶表示装置において、
前記画素を駆動するための薄膜トランジスタに設けられた電圧供給電極と、前記液晶層に電圧を印加するための電極とを電気的に接続するためのコンタクトホールが、前記副画素同士をつないでいる接続部分に設けられている
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記薄膜トランジスタ側に、前記液晶層のセル厚を変化させるための段差形成用の樹脂層が設けられており、
前記樹脂層が前記薄膜トランジスタの少なくとも一部分を覆っており、
前記コンタクトホールは、前記樹脂層が設けられていない領域で、かつ、前記段差近傍に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記樹脂層上に反射電極が設けられて反射表示領域を形成しており、
前記反射表示領域の中央部分にセルギャップを保持するための柱状の突起が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記副画素同士をつないでいる接続部分の両側および前記副画素間にコモン電位の層を設けたことを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
