Abstract
Description
架橋性ポリマー溶液を下記の一つまたは二つの処理で提供する。第1の処理においては、ヘキサメチレンジアミンの70%(重量)溶液の4.0gと、エピクロロヒドリンの99%(重量)溶液の7.5gとを混合して、3種類のイオネンポリマー溶液250mlサンプルを作成する。これらポリマー溶液は、どの溶液についても、市販のイオネンポリマー調剤を適当な水で希釈することによって得られる、1.5%(重量)、3%(重量)および6%(重量)のポリマー濃度を有する溶液である。上記市販の調剤は、米国ペンシルバニア州トレヴォース所在のジー・イー・ウォーター・テクノロジーズ社のジー・イー・ベッツ部門から販売されているPC-1195(登録商標)ポリマー溶液であり、約40〜50重量%の約170,000の分子量を有する溶解されたアミン官能性イオネンポリマー固形分を含む。このようにして提供された3種類の架橋性ポリマー溶液を、使用に先立って5日間寝かす。
上述した実施例1のテストに続いて、実施例1のフィルタサンプルと同様の組成を有するが、25〜1000℃の温度範囲に亘って約4.7×10−7/℃のより低い平均線膨張係数(CTE)を有するいくつかのさらに別のチタン酸アルミニウムセラミックサンプルに、上述の実施例のようにポリマーコーティングと下塗りコーティングとを施した。次にこれら下塗りコーティングが施されたサンプルのCTEの増大程度をテストし、そのテスト結果が表2に報告されている。
コージェライトハニカムの原料から多数のセラミックコーティング・サンプルを調製し、それらの両端に交互に栓を施して小型のハニカムフィルタのサンプルを提供する。コージェライトハニカムは、約31セル/cm2のセル密度と、約300μmの壁厚と、約8×10−7/℃の平均線膨張係数(25〜1000℃)を有する。

Claims (11)
- 多孔質セラミック物品にバリアー塗膜を提供する方法であって、
液体ビヒクル、架橋促進剤、および熱架橋性、熱分解性炭化水素ポリマーを含むポリマー溶液または分散液を前記多孔質セラミック物品に施し、
該セラミック物品を、前記施されたポリマー溶液または分散液から前記ビヒクルを除去するのにほぼ十分な温度に加熱して前記炭化水素ポリマーを架橋させる、
諸ステップを有してなる方法。 - 前記架橋性炭化水素ポリマーが、アミン官能性イオネン、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリアクリル酸、およびポリアクリルアミンからなる群から選ばれた水溶性ポリマーであることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記架橋性炭化水素ポリマーが、5000〜200000の範囲内の分子量を有するアミン官能性イオネンであることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記架橋促進剤が、エピクロロヒドリンおよびジアミンからなる群から選ばれたものであることを特徴とする請求項3記載の方法。
- 前記セラミック物品を80〜120℃の範囲内の温度に加熱して、前記炭化水素ポリマーを架橋させることを特徴とする請求項3記載の方法。
- 触媒または触媒下塗り塗膜を多孔質セラミック触媒担体に施す方法であって、
液体ビヒクル、架橋促進剤、および熱架橋性、熱分解性炭化水素ポリマーを含むポリマー溶液または分散液を前記触媒担体に施し、
該触媒担体を、施されたポリマー溶液または分散液から前記ビヒクルを除去するのにほぼ十分な温度に加熱して前記炭化水素ポリマーを架橋させ、これにより、ポリマーで被覆された担体を提供し、
該ポリマーで被覆された担体に水性下塗り塗膜または触媒塗膜を施しかつ該触媒塗膜または下塗り塗膜を乾燥させて、触媒で被覆されたまたは下塗り塗膜で被覆された担体を提供し、
該触媒で被覆されたまたは下塗り塗膜で被覆された担体を、少なくとも前記架橋されたポリマー塗膜が除去されるのに十分な温度に加熱する、
諸ステップを有してなる方法。 - 前記多孔質セラミック触媒担体が、チタン酸アルミニウムおよびコージェライトからなる群から選ばれた主結晶相を備えたセラミックハニカムであることを特徴とする請求項6記載の方法。
- 前記水性下塗り塗膜または触媒塗膜が、アルミナ、アルミナ先駆物質、またはアルミナを含む混合物の分散体を含むことを特徴とする請求項6記載の方法。
- 粗大気孔部分および微細気孔/マイクロチャンネル部分の存在によって特徴付けられた気孔組織を備えた多孔質セラミック物品であって、前記気孔組織が、前記物品の微細気孔/マイクロチャンネル部分内に優先的に配置された、架橋されたポリマーバリアー塗膜を担持していることを特徴とする多孔質セラミック物品。
- チタン酸アルミニウムセラミックおよびコージェライトセラミックからなる群から選ばれたセラミック組成を有することを特徴とする請求項9記載の多孔質セラミック物品。
- 前記気孔組織の粗大気孔部分が下塗り塗膜の堆積のために開放されていることを特徴とする請求項10記載の多孔質セラミック物品。
