Abstract
【解決手段】ペリレン骨格を供えた金属(Ir,Rh,Pt,またはPd)錯体からなる有機発光材料である。この有機発光材料を用いた有機電界発光素子1は、下部電極(陽極)3と上部電極(陰極)7との間に少なくとも発光層503を挟持してなり、発光層503に有機発光材料が含有されている。

Description
本発明の有機発光材料は、上記一般式(1)を用いて説明した構成の化合物であり、例えば有機電界発光素子の発光層を構成する材料として用いられる。
図1は、本発明の有機電界発光素子を模式的に示す断面図である。この図に示す有機電界発光素子1は、上述した有機発光材料を用いて構成されたものである。この有機電界発光素子1は、基板2上に、下部電極3、有機層5および上部電極7を順次積層してなる。そして、保護膜9で覆われた状態で、基板2側または上部電極7側から発光を取り出す構成となっている。
塩化イリジウム三水和物(3.3mmol)とピリジルペリレン(14.7mmol)とを、2−エトキシエタノール(90ml)に溶解させた。そこに蒸留水(30ml)を加え、窒素気流下135℃で24時間撹拌した。反応終了後、ガラスフィルターにより沈殿物を回収し、エタノール(120ml)で洗浄し、真空乾燥(80℃、5時間)を行った。その後、回収した反応物、ピリジルペリレン、およびAgCF3SO3(1.57mmol)を、アルゴン雰囲気下110℃で24時間反応させた。反応終了後室温まで放冷し、エタノールを注ぎ反応物を析出させた。精製はエタノールによる再結晶を行い、下記構造式(1)に示す有機発光材料を得た。
30mm×30mmのガラスからなる基板2の一面に、膜厚が100nmのITOからなる陽極(下部電極3)を形成した。この基板2を蒸着装置の基板ホルダーに固定し、蒸着マスクを基板に近接して配置した。蒸着マスクとしては、2.0mm×2.0mmの単位開口が複数設けられた金属マスクを用いた。また、次に成膜する各有機層の材料それぞれ0.2gを抵抗加熱用のボートに充填し、さらに陰極(上部電極7)材料であるマグネシウム(Mg)0.1gおよび銀(Ag)0.4gをボートに充填し、真空蒸着装置の所定の電極に取り付けた。この状態で、蒸着槽を1.4×10-4 Paに減圧し、陽極3上に各有機層501〜507および陰極7を下記のように蒸着成膜した。

ことを特徴とする有機電界発光素子。 - 請求項3記載の有機電界発光素子において、
前記発光層の陰極側に接した状態で、正孔ブロッキング層が設けられている
ことを特徴とする有機電界発光素子。
