Abstract

996,150. Bed-settees. CASTRO CONVERTIBLE CORPORATION. April 4, 1962 [April 6, 1961], No. 12986/62. Heading A4J. A convertible bed mechanism comprises a stationary frame 12 and four sections 14, 16, 18 and 20 pivoted together and adapted to unfold into a straight line and to fold into a flattened Z configuration within the frame 12, links 38 being provided between the frame 12 and section 14 within the frame and a pair of arms 44, 46 pivotally connecting the section 18 to an upper side corner of the section 16. Each arm 44, 46 is provided with a projecting tab 52, Fig. 6, to support the underside of the section 16 when the bed mechanism is unfolded. Legs 60, 62 are attached to the section 20. Inwardly projecting stops 66 in the legs 62 are provided to rest on the frame 12 and support the seat 20 when the bed is folded. Curved leaf springs 64 are mounted between the sections 16, 18 to aid in folding and unfolding the bed.
