Abstract

989,714. Container closures. DRACKETT CO. April 9, 1964, No. 14784/64. Heading B8T. A spout-type container closure of plastics material has a closure diaphragm 46 integral with and peripherally connected along a tear line 48 to the spout, and carries a pull tab 50 which normally projects out of and beyond the mouth of the spout. Perforations in the tear line adjacent the base of the tab may assist in the initiation of the tear action, and function as venting means to permit escape of gas accumulating within the container. A secondary snapon closure 18 secured to the closure by a retaining strip 22 seals the mouth and retains the tab in the spout. In the embodiment of Fig. 6 the pull tab 68 terminates in a rigid lever 60 supported by two buttresses 62, and with an arm 66 to localize the initial tearing force.
