Abstract

1,153,723. Boxes; opening containers. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. and D. T. N. WILLIAMSON. 8 June, 1966 [9 June, 1965], No. 24338/65. Headings B8D and B8P. The lid 2 and body 1 of a " flip top " cigarette, &c. box are moulded from plastics and after filling are sealed together around a lower edge of the lid which overlies the adjacent upper edge of the body, the lid, parallel to its edge having an integral tear strip 11, bounded on each side by a weak strip 10, 12 of reduced thickness. The lid 2 is hingedly connected to the body 1 along one side and the remaining sides of the lid may be sealed to the body by adhesive or by ultrasonic welding. The tear strip 11 has at least one tab (11a), Fig. 2 (not shown), by which it can be peeled off.
