Abstract

1350989 Tamper-proof closures METAL BOX CO Ltd 28 April 1971 [29 April 1970 4 March 1971] 11923/71 Heading B8T An integral tamper-proof closure comprises a skirt 11 adapted to engage a groove 13 in the neck of a container, said skirt 13 being attached to a planar ring 15 by a thin film of plastics material. The ring 15 forms the base of a boss 16, and carries a gripping ring 17, attached by tabs 18, 19. The gripping ring 17 is also joined to the ring 15 by stems 20. To remove the stopper, the ring 17 is pulled, breaking the stems 20, whereupon further pulling detaches the ring 15 from the skirt 11. If desired a hinge 21 may be provided so that the ring 15 stays attached to the skirt 11 (Fig. 6). In other embodiments, a single tab replaces tabs 18, 19 (Fig. 1, not shown), the tear strip may comprise a series of stems (Fig. 6a, not shown) and a tubular spout may be provided in the neck of the container (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown). After removal, the closure may be used to reseal the container.
