Abstract

982,648. Spray producers. SPRAYING SYSTEMS CO. Jan. 28, 1964 [May 1, 1963], No. 3575/64. Heading B2F. A swivel mounting 10 for a spray nozzle 20 suitable for discharging paint &c. comprises a first body portion 15 having an inlet passage 24, a second body portion 16 having an outlet passage 52, said second body portion being adapted to carry the nozzle 20, an elongated stem 17 extending through aligned bores in said bodies and having at one end an enlarged cylindrical portion adapted to press a packing ring 55 against a seat 50S in the body portion 16 and at the other end a screw thread adapted to be engaged by a nut 58 which presses a packing ring 58P against a seat in the body portion 15, and means for preventing rotation of the stem relative to the body 15 whilst permitting pivotal movement of the body 16 about the axis defined by the stem 17. Paint enters the mounting through a needle valve 35 and reaches the nozzle 20 via passages 24, 50, 51 and 52. The body 15 is joined to the body 31 of the valve section by a connection 30. The stem 17 is held against rotation by the interaction of a hexagonal enlargement 17E on the stem with a hexagonal passage in the body 15, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown).
