Abstract

979,602. Hair clips. J. DEKEL. Aug. 30, 1962 [Sept. 19, 1961], No. 33346/62. Heading A4V. [Also in Division E2] A hair curl clip comprises upper and lower jaws 10, 12, formed by folding a blank at 14, the upper jaw being cut to provide lateral arms 16 and a resilient integral tongue 18 which is apertured at 30 to engage a projection 26 from the lower jaw forming a fulcrum, the length of the tongue from the root to the aperture 30 being greater than the distance between the root and the projection prior to the engagement so that the tongue is compressed and on opposite sides of a dead centre position urges the jaw 10 towards and away from the jaw 12. The clip is opened to a stable position by finger pressure to approximate handles 22, formed as an extension of the tongue 18, and 14, and the clip is closed by finger pressure at the free ends of the jaws. In modifications the crimp 28 in the lower jaw does not project above the upper jaw, more than one connection between the tongue and the jaw, and otherwise than by projections and apertures, are provided; a blank for a plastic clip has a thinned portion for folding, and a clip having separate jaws is included.
