Abstract

979,075. Crop drier. G. M. HARRIES. Jan. 9, 1963 [Oct. 13, 19611, No. 36753/61. Heading F4G. Apparatus for drying crops in granular form, e.g. grain, comprises a hopper 12 having a valved opening 14 for feeding the damp grain to a duct 7 supplied with heated air from a heater 3 and fan 2 which circulates, and simultaneously dries, the grain in a path through the duct and through a chamber 1 into which the duct discharges through an aperture 9, the chamber having sloping floor portions 18, 19 to direct the grain through the opening 14 back into the duct. Guide plates 16, 17 are mounted in the chamber to direct the grain to the floor portions 18, 19 which are perforated to allow air to escape to outer atmosphere. A valve 8 in the duct 7 directs the hot air and grain either to the chamber or to an outlet duct 10 and a dust separator may be mounted in the duct between the valve 8 and aperture.
