Abstract

643,469. Hoppers. HAMILTON, G. S. June 18, 1947, No. 16005. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups I and XIII] A hopper 1 for mounting on the top of a drying kiln 2 of the type used for drying cereal grain and seeds has in communication therewith one or more ducts 5 formed on the exterior thereof and adapted to collect moist heated air as discharged from the drying kiln, which is drawn in and circulated through preheat - ing tubes 7 extending across the bottom of the hopper in the path of heat directed thereon from the kiln by a fan (not shown). The air is circulated through the tubes 7 to a passage or series of passages 10 extending across the centre of the hopper transverse to the grain flow above said pre-heating tubes and provided with openings 10a in the side walls out of which the air flows and passes through the descending grain and finally through outlets 12 in the hopper walls.
