Abstract
814,536. Drying apparatus. JESSOP & CO. Ltd. May 9, 1957 [Feb. 9, 1956], No. 4141/56. Class 34(2) Grain &c. is dried by warm air supplied by a pipe 18, Fig. 2, to a, e.g. square, wooden structure having louvred walls and embedded in the grain contained in a bin. In a modification, the air is distributed through radial arms 30, Fig: 3, having louvred walls 25, Fig. 4, and connected to a central chamber 31 having an air inlet 28. Fig. 6 shows two rows of bins having distributers according to Fig. 3, warm air being supplied to the chambers in turn by a fan 44 mounted on a trolley 42 movable along an overhead platform 41 and having an electric heater 45 in its inlet and a flexible elbow 49 at its outlet for directing air into the chambers. The heater may be thermostatically controlled to prevent incandescence of the heater elements and overheating of the air. Specification 713,965 [Group XXX] is referred to.
