Abstract
978,459. Non-metallic tubing. J. A. G. COLLIER. Sept. 3, 1963, No. 34799/63. Heading F2P. [Also in Divisions B5 and B8] Tubular packaging material consists of a relatively coarsely woven base fabric, e.g. hessian, to which a pre-formed sheet or film of polythene, polyvinyl chloride or like stretchable thermoplastic material has been united, the composite material so formed being then wound to tubular form with the edges thereof overlapped and stitched together by a line of stitching which extends helically of the length of the tubular material, the warp and weft of the basic fabric being arranged obliquely of the longitudinal axis of the tubular material to provide longitudinal and transverse stretching characteristics. Thermoplastic sheet material may be disposed on both sides of the fabric and secured to the latter by adhesive such as an emulsion or solution of polyvinyl chloride, or by passing the laminated material between heated rollers.
