977,523. Supporting overhead lines. CABLE COVERS Ltd., and F. W. BAMBER. Aug. 3, 1962 [Aug. 15, 1961], No. 29351/61. Heading H2C. The Figure shows a terminating clamp for an overhead line conductor 12. A bracket 1 is suspended from an insulator 11 by a wire loop 8, the ends of which are anchored by ferrules or sleeves 9 swaged to the wire and engaging shoulders 10. The conductor 12 passes through a tapered member with an axial bore with side slots. When nut 6 is tightened the tape is drawn into a correspondingly shaped hole in the bracket and grips the conductor. The axial bore may be roughened or lined to assist gripping.
