Abstract
975,106. Pneumatic tyres. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. April 7, 1961 [April 13, 1960], No. 13118/60. Heading B7C. In a pneumatic tyre having its sidewalls each covered by a natural rubber layer 6 having an external annular veneer layer 7 of crackresistant synthetic rubber, such as neoprene, the radially outer edge 11 of the veneer layer 7 is serrated and terminates radially inwardly of the radially outer edge 10 of the natural rubber layer 6 in the shoulder region of the tyre in order to reduce the tendency to cracking at the junction of the two layers. As shown, the serrated edge 11 is of wave form but may be of saw-tooth form.
