Abstract

875,771. Pneumatic tyres. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Dec. 23, 1957 [Jan. 8, 1957], No. 671/57. Class 144 (2). A pneumatic tyre has one or more carcase plies 1, 3, 5 and 7, each anchored at one edge only by being wrapped around a bead core A<SP>1</SP> or B<SP>1</SP> with its other edge terminating adjacent but not around the opposite bead core A or B, and one or more of the remaining plies 2, 4, 6, 8 each with one edge wrapped around said opposite bead core A or B with its other edge terminating adjacent, but not around the bead core A<SP>1</SP> or B<SP>1</SP>. As shown for a ten-ply tyre having a pair of bead cores A, B or A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP> in each bead, plies 1-4 are associated with cores A, A<SP>1</SP> and plies 2-8 with cores B, B<SP>1</SP>, and the remaining two plies 9, 10 each extend from bead toe 11 to bead toe 12. Alternatively, ply 9 may extend from the toe 11 of one bead to the heel 14 of the opposite bead, and ply 10 may extend from the heel 13 of said one bead to the toe 12 of said opposite bead.
