Abstract

973,477. Thermal switches. S. SMITH & SONS (ENGLAND) Ltd. Oct. 2, 1962 [Oct. 2, 1961], No. 35548/61. Heading H2B. A bimetallic strip 19 moves a snap-action contact blade between stops 39, 54, providing the switch contacts, and the switch assembly is contained in a fluid-tight casing having an insulating closure member 16, in an enlargement 13 of the casing, through which closure member 16 a conductor 50 passes in a liquidtight manner to a terminal tab 57 for connection of the switch assembly to an external circuit. The tubular part 10 of the casing is immersed in a liquid container and an externally threaded portion 12 of a body portion 11 engages a threaded hole in the container. Both stops 39, 54 are adjustable to set the switch operating temperature.
