Abstract

963,569. Portable electric lamps. J. B. SHAW, and G. G. ROBERTS. Feb. 1, 1963 [March 28, 1962], No. 4134/63. Addition to 905,249. Heading F4R. [Also in Division H2] The lamp of the parent Specification is modified by the provision of insulated high temperature conductors leading from the lamp socket through the axial opening of the housing to a point on the upper and outer surface of the housing for detachable connection to an electric cable. In the form shown, the high temperature leads 37, 38 from the lamp socket are connected to contact prongs 34, 35 on the upper surface of the drip shield 25. A plug of insulating material consisting of two parts 41, 42 united by a screw 39 engages the prongs 34, 35, which pass through apertures in the part 41 and engage springy contact members 47, 48 on the part 42 connected to a cable 50. The plug is enclosed in a cover 55 having a gasket 58 through which the cable 50 passes. The cover 55 is secured to the drip shield 25 by screws with the interposition of an 0-ring gasket 61. The rim 36 of the drip shield and the part 41 on the one hand and the parts 41, 42 on the other hand are provided with interengaging projections and recesses to ensure correct connection between the prongs 34, 35 and the prongs 47, 48.
