Abstract

1372747 Luminaires EMERSON ELECTRIC CO 7 March 1972 [14 April 1971] 10549/72 Heading F4R A luminaire includes a housing 21 which is removably mounted on a support comprising a wire guide 2 and a slide insert 3 which carries an electrical connector 20 such that upon engagement of the support and housing to mount the luminaire the connector 20 mates with a complementary connector 51 rigidly fixed in the housing. The support comprises a tubular wire guide 2 on which is mounted an L-shaped slide 3 which has a rabbet 18 formed in edges 9, 10 thereof which engage edges 43, 44 of an aperture 42 in the top section 22 of the housing. The slide 3 is slid into engagement with the housing and at the limit of its movement the male and female connectors 51, 20 mate and the housing is closed by the slide to enclose the connectors. Electrical supply conductors are fed through the aperture 4 in guide 2 into the connector 20. Fins 40 in the housing aid the cooling of ballast and other components mounted in housing 21. Guide 2 and slide 3 may be formed as an integral unit.
