A semi-conductor device has a current supply lead forming an electrode of the device in the form of a tapering, conducting member. The tapering conducting member may be of thin conducting foil 3, Fig. 1, either self supporting or supported by a suitably shaped tapering insulating body, such as a solid conical body. Contact between the conducting foil and the semiconductor element 1 may be maintained due to the natural elasticity of the foil, by making the supporting tapered body of elastic material, or by securing the apex of the foil to the element by pressure at an elevated temperature. The invention is also described applied to Mesa type diodes, Fig. 2 (not shown).
