Abstract

A copper-beryllium alloy contains in percentage by weight <TABS:0955256/C3/1> The alloy may be prepared by melting the constituents together under a charcoal cover, and subsequently degassing, preferably by means of a stream of nitrogen, carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide, whereby finely dispersed carbides and/or nitrides are produced which have a grain-refining action. The alloy may alternatively be prepared by powder metallurgy methods. The Provisional Specification refers to the use of boron in addition to or in place of titanium and zirconium.
