Abstract

944,602. Fluid actuation of switches. MILLS BROS. (SHEFFIELD) Ltd. Sept. 29, 1961 [Sept. 10, 1960; March 24, 1961], Nos. 31241/60 and 10936/61. Heading H2B. [Also in Division A4] Liquid pressure actuated switch means for energizing and stopping a pump motor of liquid dispensing apparatus, e.g. a beer engine, comprises a casing 31, Fig. 3, containing an adjustably mounted micro-switch 47 having a contact element 51, Fig. 4, positioned against one end of a spring biased plunger 38 engageable at its other flanged end with a diaphragm 35 closing the end of a tubular member 33 which connects the casing to a pipe line leading to the outlet. When the dispensing outlet is closed the resultant increase in pressure in the pipe line distends the diaphragm to actuate the plunger 38 and contact element 51 to stop the motor, the subsequent opening of the outlet having the reverse effect through the medium of spring 39. The switch 47, which is mounted on a screw 48, is adjustable relatively to the plunger by means of a bolt 52 and the tension of spring 39 is adjustable by means of screw 40.
