Abstract
941,673. Lifting-dogs with automatic control. P. MOSKOPF. Nov. 10, 1961, No. 40409/61. Heading B8H. The jaws 9, 10, 11, 12, Fig. 1, of a lifting-dog are held open by a detent 29, Fig. 3, attached to the jaw 11, which engages a plate 41 mounted on the jaw 12, until a feeler 24 abuts the load to be lifted and moves the detent out of engagement with the plate 41. When the device is lowered over a load a fork 25, 26, attached to the feeler 24, is turned anti-clockwise when the feeler abuts the load. This draws a pawl 32, pivoted to the detent 29 to the left against springs 35, 38, thereby releasing the detent and allowing the jaws to close. During lifting the spring 38 pulls the pawl 32 out of engagement with the fork 25 and the parts are as shown in Fig. 5. When the load is set down the jaws open and spring 35 pulls the pawl 32 and detent 29 anti-clockwise to engage the plate 41. As the device is raised unloaded the feeler 24 swings downwards and the fork 25 engages the pawl 32.
