Abstract
1,043,663. Barrel lifting attachments for masted lift-trucks. E. K. HANSEN. Feb. 15, 1965, No. 6520/65. Heading B8H. When a lift-truck 10 is driven up to a barrel 11 arms 39, 41 of a lifting attachment swing upwards and outwards about inclined axes as their tips engage the barrel and subsequently drop downwards to embrace the barrel. The barrel may now be lifted by raising the carriage of the lift truck, thus forcing the arms into gripping engagement with the barrel due to the weight thereof. After the barrel has been set down it is released by backing the truck away. Legs 60, 66, Fig. 3 (not shown), hold the arms perpendicular to a base-plate 36 whilst a barrel is being raised. These legs co-operate with lugs 53, 54 and 67, 68 to provide an adjustment for barrels of differing diameters. In a second embodiment, Fig. 7 (not shown), two barrels are raised, one either side of a fixed central jaw member 82. Operation is the same as in the first embodiment.
