Abstract
940,285. Clocks. GENERAL TIME CORPORATION. Dec. 14, 1961 [Dec. 22, 1960], No. 44767/61. Heading G3T. In a synchronous motor alarm clock the alarm member 40, Fig. 2, is normally locked by a pivoted control element 45, Fig. 10, the arm 93 of which abuts the alarm trip gear 90. A pivoted spring- loaded cam member 50, Fig. 5, has a nose 54 which engages a nose 55 of the control element 45 and has two cam surfaces 68, 69 which co-operate with a pin 67 extending from a pivoted actuator 65. If after alarm release the actuator 65 is moved clockwise or counterclockwise by depression of one or other of two push pieces the cam is rocked clockwise to a greater or less extent so that a pawl 60 carried thereby engages a gear 33 driven by the train and so that the control element 45 is brought into engagement with the alarm member 40 to silence the alarm. In the continued rotation of the gear 33 the cam member 50 is returned to its initial position after an interval of say five or ten minutes depending on which push piece was operated and the alarm member is again freed. The spindle 31 effects both time setting and alarm setting. The control element 45 may be moved to its alarm arresting position by actuation of a slidable lever 80 Fig. 2.
