Abstract
930,324. Consuming smoke. BOSTON MARINE & GENERAL ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. July 28, 1960 [July 28, 1959], No. 25798/59. Class 25. [Also in Groups XI and XII] Apparatus for consuming smoke or obnoxious vapours from an incinerator or the like comprises a vertical metal inner stack 11, Fig. 1, connected at the lower end to the incinerator (not shown) having a fan 12 attached thereto and an air guide member 13, a metal fuel cup 19 mounted on the inner surface of the stack which is fed with liquid or gaseous fuel from an inlet line and nozzle 21, 20 which fuel is ignited by a spark plug 22 to form a combustion zone in the inner stack. A second combustion zone is formed in an outer metal stack 24 secured to the inner stack above the combustion zone therein by rods 25 in a spaced enveloping relationship and extends upwardly therefrom. The aperture between the stacks forms a circumferential channel to provide air at the terminal end of the inner stack to effect further consumption of the smoke. The air guide member 13 is formed of upwardly inclined arcuate plates 14 ... 17, each of which is vertically spaced from the others and united along each side edge to side plates 18, Fig. 2, both to induce draught through the stack 11 and to introduce combustion air to the combustion zone therein.
