Abstract

925,350. Knitting-machines. SUPREME KNITTING MACHINE CO. Inc. Nov. 25, 1959 [May 21, 1959], No. 39971/59. Class 74 (2). At each feed of a multifeed machine is a block 35 bearing needle raising (clearing, tuck, or welt) cams 55A, 55B and vertically aligned stitch cams 50A, 50B in upper and lower cam tracks 60A, 60B which respectively receive only the butts of relatively short needles and of relatively long needles, all needles which are thereby raised to take yarn and lowered at any one feed taking the same yams and all needles of the same length being operated on by the same raising and stitch cams at any one feed. Each block is provided with a pair of bores 33, in each of which work plungers 40A, 40B bearing the vertically aligned stitch cams. The spacing between the plungers is determined by a pin 44 slidable in the plunger 40A and abutting at its ends against respectively the plunger 40B and a screw 45 in the plunger 40A; and the position of the two plungers together is determined by a spring 42 supporting them against the downward thrust due to the conical end of a screw 47 which engages with a notch 46 in the upper plunger.
